SUITES OF THE MASTERS

Haut Dcor for hotels

by Ettore Mocchetti

Interior design for hotels. A theme which is becoming more important every year bearing in mind that every day about one seventh of the world population is travelling, while one tenth chooses to use a hotel as their temporary home.

The exhibition addresses and interprets this from a particular perspective, whose conceptual and design parameters are dictated by criteria such as luxury, charm, comfort and above all haut dcor. Not just the simple hotel room but the deluxe suite conceived by specialised interior designers and set in a fascinating framework.

The thinking behind the exhibition is to portray an exclusive and timeless atmosphere: a setting which recalls the Italian piazza evoking De Chirico, but also the metaphysical Modernism characteristic of Italian architecture from the end of the 30s and the beginning of the 40s.

In this evocative setting, five suites, all created by international stars of interior design, present themselves. They show off large spaces carefully designed down to the very last detail, set out with rigour and without ostentation, on the basis of a cultivated, up-to-date reassessment of ideas about the classic and Modern tradition.

These solutions are born on the one hand from a close collaboration with Italian furnishing companies which, due to their fundamental culture or policy, or within their organisation and their operating template, boast a specialisation in contract hotel work; or on the other hand from a fruitful conversation with large hotel chains, and with boutique and designer hotels, expressing the best in the contemporary hotel field, and its latest most vibrant trends.

The results of this creative force are five settings, quite different from each other, but  linked by a shared sense of beauty and good taste- which aim to suggest a way of staying in a hotel which is non- threatening, but which is, on the contrary, a bit like living in ones own home and a bit like the realisation of a dream of living. This combines the pleasure of elegant, carefully considered luxury, the allure of exceptional objects and the functionality of cutting-edge technology.
